3rd Annual STEM Summit

On Thursday, January 21,2010, an awards ceremony was held in honor of the Digispired students who completed the three year project in Fall 2009. Students and their parents were treated to dinner with the actual ceremony being held in Longwood’s Blackwell Ballroom. Guest speakers included renowned educational speaker, Alan November and Ericke Cage, Legislative Counsel from Congressman Perriello’s office. The Digispired program was funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation and was designed to teach students how to create video games and to inspire future careers in technology. Dinwiddie students receiving their awards were Michael Bass Gonzalez, Andrew Bolding, Nicki Droddy, Wilmer Fitzgerald, Delbert Garrett, Darius Johnson and Jermontra Moore.

The summit continued on Friday, January 22, 2010, for educators in southside Virginia with a workshop presentation from Alan November and a special presentation from Senator Ruff.
