Inspiring Teachers for Engaged Learners (InTEL)

Funding Source: Improving Teacher Quality State Grants (SCHEV)

Funding Amount: $99,795

ITTIP has been awarded a SCHEV grant, Inspiring Teachers for Engaged Learners (InTEL), to provide professional development for 20 upper elementary and middle school teachers from seven Region 8 school divisions.  The grant will provide professional development on the integration of technology, pedagogy that supports alternative assessments (PBL), and global collaboration in order to promote critical and creative thinking, collaboration, communication, and citizenship in the classroom (5Cs) and improve student achievement in the classroom through increased student engagement. Teacher participants will be part of a professional learning community throughout the school year beginning with five face-to-face workshop days in Summer 2017 at Longwood University and continuing throughout the 2017-2018 school year through a book study.   The seven school divisions signed on as partners include: Amelia, Appomattox, Buckingham, Cumberland, Halifax, Nottoway, and Prince Edward

SCHEV grants are awarded on a competitive basis from the State Council of Higher Education of Virginia and are part of Title II, Part A: Improving Teacher Quality State Grants.
