Advance Concepts for Science Education Leadership (ACSEL) is a professional development model focused on effective and research based lesson structure, inquiry based teaching methods, science practices and process skills, and the nature of science.  The course participation (approximately 30 teachers) is divided into grades K-5 and 6-12 science teachers and is implemented during one semester through a blended learning format, and includes graduate course credit.  The learning format includes five days during the semester face to face, while the rest of the course is implemented online.  This course is in collaboration with the Virginia Department of Education and the College of Arts and Sciences at Longwood University.
