Collaborative Math Professional Development (CoMPD)

Funding Amount: $45,000 (year 1), $88,461 (year 2), $189,023 (year 3)

The Institute for Teaching through Technology and Innovative Practices (ITTIP) at Longwood University and the Mathematics Department received a Mathematics and Science Partnership (MSP) grant and partnered together to provide programs that improve the content, pedagogy, and technology knowledge for forty K-3 teachers and thirty-six grade 4-6 teachers. They also partnered with the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research (IALR) to provide a similar program for twenty-four grade 7-8 teachers. These grants helped teachers transform instructional practices that improved mathematical learning and developed mathematical thinking in all students, including students with special needs.
